Youth Centre for Social Services

The above mentioned organization was established by the Executive Committee of Chernivtsi City Council on August 8, 2000 as a part of the Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism. Its main goal is rendering social services for young people under the age of 28.

The activities of the Youth Centre for Social Services include the following directions:

  • implementation of state youth policies concerning social development of youth in the city;
  • providing informational, legal, psychological, pedagogical, medical and other social services for children and youth;
  • organization and carrying out of different events with the purpose of prevention and getting over ifficulties among children and youth population;
  • social guardianship of vulnerable sections of young population, such as disabled, orphans, young families etc.;
  • study and forecasting of the social processes and tendencies, which influence the formation of youth social interests, spiritual demands and values;
  • integration in national and international system of social services for.

    Currently the Centre carries out the following programmes: "Youth Labour Exchange", "Family Academy" and "Femida (Justice)".

    Youth Housing Construction

    The regional division of the State Foundation for Youth Housing Construction (27 Holovna St.) was recently established in Chernivtsi. Its main goal is to provide long-term loans for young families under the age of 28 who wish to improve their living conditions (construction and renovation). It has already signed 30 contracts on housing construction with young families for the period of operation in Chernivtsi.

    Youth NGOs

    28 non-government youth organizations carry out their various activities in Chernivtsi. Its spectrum is very wide: from solving youth problems and support of young people self-realization to popularization of the Klichko brothers’ achievements or modern music development.

    Besides, there are 25 youth organizations with the regional status, youth sections of the Ukrainian political parties, the regional division of the National Youth Organizations Committee (it consists of 24 youth NGOs), Non-party Youth Union “Coalition `Za`/For/”.

    From autumn 2000 Secondary School Pupils’ City Council started its work. College students established their City Students Parliament in spring 2001.
